01 / FROM METER TO MARKET
Energy performance is more than a charging schedule. Connect reliable field data with operational controls and a strategy built around your tariff, assets, and business priorities.
Minimize avoidable peak demand, shift energy to advantageous periods, and coordinate solar and battery use within your site's constraints.
See equipment health, alarms, SOC, power flows, operating states, and dispatch history. Securely issue authorized remote commands where supported.
Support demand response, utility dispatch, VPP participation, and ancillary-service use cases where hardware capabilities and market access permit.
02 / APPLICATIONS, REVENUE & SAVINGS
Monitoring, supervisory control, alerts, and scheduling form the EMS core. The applications below are configurable solutions—not a promise that every feature is enabled on every deployment.
Keep avoidable demand peaks in check.
Dispatch the battery against measured facility demand at the point of common coupling and enforce an agreed import threshold. Requires a correctly configured site meter, tariff logic, available battery capacity, and commissioned control response.
Move energy use toward more advantageous periods.
Charge during lower-cost windows and discharge during higher-value periods, subject to tariff, round-trip efficiency, reserve SOC, export rules, and battery limits. Time-based scheduling does not inherently require forecasting; predictive control can improve optimization where appropriate.
Make more of the energy generated on site.
Coordinate PV and battery operation to prioritize on-site solar use, limit excess export where applicable, and reduce grid imports. Requires compatible meters and devices, export settings, and a validated site control strategy.
Put eligible flexibility to work for the grid.
Fast active-power dispatch and operating or spinning reserves depend on inverter capabilities, control architecture, telemetry, market access, and local rules. Program eligibility and market revenue are not guaranteed.
Plan energy reserves around critical operations.
Manage reserve SOC and coordinate outage response where supported. Actual islanding and transfer require appropriate grid-forming PCS, protection, approved switchgear/STS/ATS, and commissioned hardware. EMS software alone does not provide backup power.
Coordinate distributed batteries as a fleet.
Support fleet dispatch, events, telemetry, and external program integration when enabled. Aggregation requires compatible devices, authorized interfaces, enrollment, and operating agreements; it is not enabled by default.
Respond to approved events within site limits.
Receive utility or aggregator dispatch signals through an agreed integration, enforce operational constraints, and log fulfillment. Participation depends on the program, contracts, supported interfaces, and commissioning.
Bring generation, storage, and demand together.
Orchestrate BESS, PV, site meters, and optional generators or controllable loads according to integrated device capabilities. Protection, local safety interfaces, control priorities, and fallback behavior must be engineered for the site.
Site-specific strategies require measurement, tariff data, device support, appropriate contracts, and commissioning. Market eligibility, savings, and revenue are never guaranteed.
03 / THE UP ENERGY EMS PLATFORM
A multi-layer EMS connects field and edge communications, centralized monitoring, and supervisory control. Give operators the context and controls they need without losing sight of site-level limits.
OBSERVABILITY FROM SITE TO CELL
A shared operating view for single sites and fleets, built around the telemetry your connected systems actually provide.
Telemetry availability and resolution depend on connected equipment and the agreed integration.
SUPERVISORY CONTROL, WITH GUARDRAILS
Authorized remote actions and scheduling with safeguards, execution feedback, and a clear record of operator activity.
04 / INTEGRATIONS & TECHNOLOGY
Hardware-flexible does not mean one-size-fits-all. Device adapters, measurement topology, safety interfaces, permissions, and network design are defined for each deployment.
BESS PCS/BMS · solar inverters · eGauge/AccuVim/site meters · optional ATS/STS, generators, HVAC
Device adapters · site-local supervisory automation · operating boundaries · safety interfaces
Encrypted communications · authorized VPN remote access · MQTT telemetry where applicable · monitoring and alerts
TOU/demand management · scheduling · utility/aggregator/VPP APIs · reports and SGIP PDP workflows
Battery storage integration over Modbus TCP; PCS/BMS adapters for supported third-party systems.
Compatible PV inverters and site meters, including eGauge and AccuVim configurations, subject to device and measurement-topology review.
Modbus TCP/RTU and DNP3 through deployment-specific adapters. SNMP and OCPP where the corresponding equipment and deployment support them.
MQTT telemetry where applicable; approved utility, aggregator, and VPP APIs through scoped integrations. Cloud messaging is distinct from field-device protocols.

08 / COMMON QUESTIONS
Scope, compatibility, and site engineering matter. Here are the questions worth asking early.
Yes, the platform supports hardware-flexible integration through device adapters. Compatibility, available telemetry, supported commands, and control scope must be validated for each battery, PCS, inverter, and firmware version.
Not always. An existing meter may be suitable if its measurement location, accuracy, sampling rate, communications, and import/export conventions meet the control and program requirements. Metering-based dispatch requires a correctly configured meter at the relevant point of common coupling.
Yes. Basic time-based charging and discharging can use configured windows, setpoints, and SOC limits without a forecast. Predictive control can improve optimization when suitable data, tariffs, and an appropriate project scope are available.
It can support reserve management and microgrid coordination on appropriately engineered systems. Actual islanding depends on grid-forming PCS, protection, approved transfer equipment, site design, utility permissions, and commissioned hardware.
These are configurable integration use cases, not universal out-of-the-box eligibility. Participation requires compatible hardware, telemetry, approved interfaces, operating constraints, and the appropriate utility, aggregator, or market agreements.
The service can cover compatible metering integration, interval-data collection, validation and formatting, submission through the applicable approved workflow, exportable records, and troubleshooting. Confirm current PDP designation and project-specific program requirements before contracting.
